The Office of the Receiver for the City of Central Falls today provided an overview of the closing deficit for FY 2010 and unveiled the municipal budget for FY 2011.
“There is no question of the dire financial situation the City of Central Falls faces,” said Mark Pfeiffer, retired Associate Justice of the RI Superior Court and the state-appointed receiver for the City of Central Falls. “Since my appointment as Receiver one month ago, my team has reviewed the city’s financial records, and developed a budget that addresses the immediate short term needs. This is not an easy budget, and we understand the strain and pressure it puts on the city’s property owners. We thank the public for their patience and understanding during this difficult time. Our number one priority is to return the City of Central Falls back to financial stability while ensuring the safety of the residents of Central Falls.”

La celebración se llevó a cabo el domingo, 8 de agosto en el Parque Roger Williams.
PROVIDENCE, RI. La tradición anual de la comunidad dominicana en Providence se hizo realidad una vez más el domingo, 8 de agosto cuando Quisqueya en Acción, celebra veinte tres años del Festival Dominicano de Rhode Island. El acontecimiento se efectuó en el Templo de la Música del Parque Roger Williams de 12 a 7pm. Como ha sido comstumbre, el festival comenzó con un desfile por la Calle Broad, seguido de las festividades principales en el Templo de la Música.
Durante los pasados veintrés años, el Festival Dominicano de Rhode Island ha sido organizado por Quisqueya En Acción, una organización no lucrativa con la misión de preservar y promover las raíces y los valores tradicionales de la cultura dominicana. El desarrollo de liderazgo, así como desempeños folklóricos y teatrales. El éxito del Festival Dominicano cuenta con la asistencia de Latinos y personas de otras nacionalidades y vienen de Rhode Island, Massachusetts , Connecticut y Nueva York.

Secretario de Estado Mollis Anuncia que el 14 de Agosto es la Fecha Limite para Inscribirse a Votar |

PROVIDENCE, RI. -- El Secretario de Estado Mollis anuncia que el 14 de Agosto es la fecha límite para inscribirse a votar para y poder emitir su voto para las elecciones primarias del 14 de septiembre.
He aquí algunos de los puestos por los cuales usted estará votando durante estas elecciones primarias: Cámara de Representantes de los Estados Unidos, Gobernador, Representante Estatal, Senado Estatal, Concejo Municipal y el comité escolar entre otros dependiendo de su comunidad.
"Entre mis responsabilidades, no hay compromiso más importante que el asegurar que nuestras elecciones sean accesibles para aquellos que votan y para aquellos que desean servir," dijo el Secretario Mollis.
A pesar de que la fecha limite para inscribirse a votar es un sábado, la oficina del Secretario localizada en la calle West River numero 148 en Providence, estará abierta entre 9am y 1pm.

 The evening of April 27, 2010 is one that will be remembered for setting a tone of momentum for Pawtucket and the Foundation. Nearly 400 guests attended the event, entering a completely transformed space at the Pawtucket Armory Center for the Arts, complete with mist, stylish lighting and bold colors. During the cocktail reception guests enjoyed live entertainment by the J.M. Walsh School for the Arts' jazz and show bands. JMW art student also displayed sculpture and two-dimensional art pieces.
As the presentation began, Master of Ceremonies, Michael Horan greeted guests and introduced Lieutenant Governor Elizabeth Roberts and Pawtucket Mayor James Doyle to make opening remarks. Executive Director, Thomas Mann presented the Foundation's video production Momentum: ^Building a Bridge to Prosperity, which set an up-lifting tone for the rest of the evening. Reverand Nelson Estrada from the Chinese Christian Church offered an invocation before guests dined on a delicious plate of lobster stuffed chicken breasts with broccoli and sweet potatoes catered by Russell Morin.
